Project Description
This hour and a half of pioneer school is conducted in our replica of a one room schoolhouse
The school teacher will tell you about the rules and punishments for both the students and the school mistress or master.
Your group will write lessons on stale boards with soap stone. Recite a moral and learn about Washington’s statehood. The poem “Paul Revere’s Ride” is read and discussed. Arithmetic is taught and if time permits, there will be a pioneer game at recess.
The School Teacher cabin was built by John H. Jackson in 1887. It was moved and reassembled at Pioneer Farm in 1999. After which it was dedicated to Meryl Pruitt, Pioneer Farm Founder, in 2001.
It is open for viewing when the farm is open.
